hmm, yawn

I've started 2 of the online readings (as opposed to doc links in the subject outline) - in one (author's name withheld) I battled sleep after page 3 - very densely written and liked the use of the double negative. For goodness sake, why use one word when two will do? My vocabulary is quite good, but really, I have to have a large dictionary when I attempt to struggle through this. And the paragraphs are very long.

Maybe I've been writing user guides and reference manuals for too many years, but my philosophy is simple - to put it bluntly "cut the crap"!

The other - a useful article, with practical suggestions and easy to read. I'm enjoying this one. My practical nature likes it ... although that said, it's more for school teachers than for teachers of small group (often 1-2 peole) adults. But I'm sure there are many useful items in it (some of which I already do, just in an informal manner).

I guess that part of my research is to find out what other people have said about article 1, see where it's cited and try to gather meaning from that!

I'll try again with reading 1 when I'm usually not sleepy... although at children's swimming lessons I'm generally awake!
