Learning about research

Have started the readings. Uni has an incentive to get assignments in on time this semester - they deduct marks until if you're two weeks overdue you get nothing. This should help me... or ruin me... as last year I think I was late for every assignment, anathema to a usually punctual person. What can I say... work became almost full-time from a very part time (sometimes almost nothing) base.

Probably a good idea to have this "research journal" as any random relevant thoughts can just be jotted down here and retrieved (instead of being forgotten).

Oh dear, I have a problem remembering correct terms, and you can forget buzzwords (fancy labels for commonsense). I'll have to login to uni to remember the type of research that appeals to me most, and the type that should be most useful for work... it's qualitative applied research that's all I know at the moment. I'm pragmatic and only really interested in research that is:

  • do-able in the small company that I work for
  • provides reliable information and findings (yes, this should be a given)
  • in areas that can be applied to my situation (and that of the participants in training sessions)
